YouTube Channel vs. Podcast?

One of our most recent projects has been starting a YouTube Channel for my 7-year-old son Daniel to help cultivate his love of reading and to inspire other kids to read more. Daniel’s Reading Explosion premiered on YouTube this month and it is not only helping Daniel with his reading, but he was able to create his own branding as he chose his own channel name, colors, music and theme. We had considered doing a Podcast but decided that the market demographic he was targeting (kids) was mostly on YouTube and not into podcasts yet, and the it would be fun to have the visual of a YouTube channel where we could also insert fun images and cartoons to animate the story time narration. If we had gone the route of a Podcast we wouldn’t have had all the visual components and also we would’ve been limited to having it available on Spotify or Apple Podcasts which targets teens and adults and not really minors. Depending on your content, visuals and target demographic it’s good to consider the pro’s and con’s of creating content on a YouTube channel vs. a Podcast. Happy content creating!
